Frequently Asked Questions
What are AI agents?
AI agents go beyond generative AI assistants that simply respond to requests. They are proactive, autonomous, and collaborative, designed to operate continuously in the background to help organizations adapt, make confident decisions, and stay ahead of change.
Each agent is a specialist in its own domain. Together, they form a connected network native to the Pigment platform, working alongside your teams in finance, sales, HR, and supply chain. Every action is explainable and traceable, ensuring that people remain in control while benefiting from intelligent automation.
Pigment AI agents include:
- The Analyst Agent scans data across the business to detect patterns, anomalies, and risks; builds reports in flexible formats; and surfaces insights that explain the “why” behind outcomes.
- The Modeler Agent collaborates with other agents to simulate outcomes, update models, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- The Planner Agent looks ahead to evolving trends, autonomously maintaining and updating models in real time to keep plans accurate and relevant.
- The Supervisor Agent orchestrates tasks across the agent network, ensuring the right agent and the right people are brought into workflows at the right time.
By working together, this system of agentic AI enhances efficiency, strengthens decision-making, and unlocks new levels of business agility, helping organizations plan with foresight, adapt with speed, and execute with confidence.
Will AI agents replace workforces?
No. Agents are designed to augment, not replace, human teams. It’s about AI and humans working together to unlock new levels of efficiency and performance.Rather than replacing jobs, AI Agents will help you better understand your business, make sense of data, model different scenarios, and allow you to spend more time on strategic work instead of number crunching.
They will:
- Enhance productivity by taking on time-consuming, complex, manual tasks
- Improve decision-making by providing better insights, faster.
- Level up the workforce to shift focus from execution to strategy.
For example, in the context of AI in finance, an FP&A analyst who typically spends hours gathering and reconciling financial data can now rely on the Analyst Agent to automate variance analysis, detect anomalies, and generate reports. This allows them to focus on strategic financial planning, scenario modeling, and advising leadership on key decisions.
What benefits will Pigment’s Agents bring to customers?
The introduction of AI Agents opens a new set of possibilities within business planning and performance management where workforces will be augmented by digital ones.
They enable teams to:
- Move faster: make incremental gains everywhere - from accelerating insights to simulating scenarios - and move quickly from plan to execution, with AI-powered modeling and reporting.
- Make better decisions: boost collaboration and alignment, with intuitive capabilities including AI-powered search so any team member can contribute with their expertise and swiftly move into execution.
- Achieve goals: drive operational excellence with AI that understand your business and adapts to changing conditions.
The result is significant productivity gains and better business outcomes - exactly what today's stretched teams need to succeed in a fast-changing environment.
Do you use customer data to train Pigment’s agents?
No. The models we have built are trained on contextual information and business planning best practices. Customer data is kept separate and confidential and our LLMs do not train on or store any customer information.
Can users provide feedback on AI responses?
Yes! Users can rate the AI answers with thumbs up/down responses. By monitoring these responses, we can detect hallucinations and continuously improve our accuracy.
How will Pigment guarantee the accuracy of the insights and recommendations coming from Pigment’s AI Agents?
Pigment’s AI Agents are designed to provide explainable, contextual insights, but like any AI system, they are not a substitute for human judgment.
Accuracy is supported in several ways:
- Built-in explainability, every action taken by an agent is visible and traceable, so teams can understand the “why” behind a recommendation and refine outcomes as needed.
- Supervisor Agent oversight, a central orchestrator supervises the network of agents, routing tasks, coordinating outputs, and ensuring consistency across workflows.
- Contextual grounding, unlike generic assistants, Pigment’s agents are natively embedded in the platform, trained on your business data, and adapt over time as decisions are made.
- Human-in-the-loop, agents are built to work alongside people, not replace them. Teams retain control, providing oversight and feedback to validate outputs and continuously improve accuracy.
Together, these safeguards ensure that insights and recommendations are not only more reliable but also remain aligned with the organization’s business logic and planning needs.
What is Pigment MCP?
The Pigment MCP Server connects Pigment’s live business data, models, logic and agents to external AI platforms through the MCP standard. It acts as a secure bridge, bringing context from Pigment into any AI experience, so responses stay accurate, governed, and relevant to your business.
