Virgin Voyages selects Pigment to modernize financial planning and accelerate business growth

Cruise line partners with Pigment’s modern planning platform to deliver real-time visibility, self-serve analytics and AI-powered reporting across the business.

Pigment, the AI business planning and performance management platform, today announced that Virgin Voyages, the award-winning kids-free cruise line, has selected Pigment to transform its financial planning and analysis (FP&A) capabilities.

With four ships in operation and a brand built on innovation and smart growth, Virgin Voyages identified an opportunity to consolidate its existing planning and reporting tools onto a single, modern platform. The company’s lean FP&A team - responsible for reporting, forecasting and strategic business analysis - was spending significant time maintaining data consistency and managing version control across disconnected tools, leaving little bandwidth for higher-value strategic work.

“Virgin Voyages was designed as a data-driven company from the start, and now, AI and advanced analytics power many of our revenue management and marketing functions. The natural next step was to bring that same rigor to the finance function. We chose Pigment because it gives us a platform to match that ambition, one where we can shift from reactive reporting toward predictive, insight-driven decision making.”

Matt Dawley, Vice President of FP&A, Virgin Voyages

Pigment as a flexible, scalable, intuitive solution

After evaluating several FP&A solutions, Virgin Voyages chose Pigment for its modern calculation engine, flexible self-serve analytics, and AI capabilities. A key differentiator was Pigment’s ability to handle complex, high-volume data without sacrificing performance, a critical requirement as the company plans for continued expansion and growing data complexity.

Equally important was Pigment’s intuitive interface, which allows Virgin Voyages’ business leaders to drag and drop dimensions and explore different data views without requiring analyst support. For a lean FP&A team operating in a high-velocity decision environment, this self-serve capability is transformative.

Building a scalable finance function for the next phase of growth

Virgin Voyages is targeting three key milestones with Pigment:

  • Establishing a single source of truth for the full P&L, eliminating reconciliation gaps across planning, forecasting, and actuals
  • Delivering real-time variance analysis and drill-down capabilities to accounting and operational finance teams who previously relied on static, period-end reporting
  • Extending self-serve analytics to P&L owners and operational leaders across the business, enabling real-time performance monitoring without bottlenecking through FP&A

Longer term, the line is excited about Pigment’s AI capabilities - particularly for automating weekly executive reporting workflows and surfacing performance trends that would otherwise require manual analysis. With a robust data infrastructure already in place on Google BigQuery and active AI partnerships with many other leading technology vendors, Virgin Voyages views Pigment as the next step in extending that data-driven approach to the finance function.

“Finance teams today are being asked to do far more than report on the past; they’re expected to guide what happens next. Virgin Voyages is leaning into that shift by investing in a platform that combines robust modeling with practical AI capabilities. We’re excited to support their team as they turn data into faster, more confident decisions across the business.”
