A good plan has the power to drive change across your organization. A great plan is one that brings everyone along on that journey, keeping teams fully aligned with one another.. The challenging part of that is keeping your stakeholders engaged, whether they need to contribute to an evolving plan, review changes or check progress against a goal. Helping them find what they need, when they need it, can be tricky.
Sequences is a new Pigment feature designed to eliminate that problem. It offers a guided experience for business users and eliminates the need for complex training and guidance.
When you build a Sequence, you create and customise a native journey through Pigment; surfacing information in a logical series of steps.
How do Sequences work?
Sequences consist of a series of Pigment Boards, each representing a step in your planning process or assignment where input or action is required. Each step includes essential navigation options, making it easy to design processes that users can navigate without assistance.

Boards can be re-used across multiple Sequences to make it easy to create and maintain Views used for reviewing cross-functional data, and existing Boards can be duplicated and tweaked for use at different steps within a Sequence for ultimate usability.
How do Sequences compare with Tasks & Automations?
Sequences can be combined with Tasks and Automations to maximise engagement and task completion across Pigment.
Tasks & Automations are designed to bring users into Pigment at the right time to contribute to a planning process. Sequences are designed to optimize how they perform this contribution once they are in Pigment.

Use Tasks when it’s important to bring business users into the platform at a particular time (e.g. to meet a deadline) or when conditions are met (e.g. to review numbers exceeding a threshold). Use Sequences when it’s important that a business user follows a particular set of steps, and to make it straightforward for them to locate and navigate that process.
When would I use Sequences?
Sequences are ideal for engaging users who may not be familiar with Pigment, or who might only need to contribute to a planning process sporadically. Sequences also offer excellent guidance for all users completing steps within a process that are critical to complete in a given order, and in full.
Sequences is a fantastic feature for:
- Cross-functional teams contributing to the Finance teams’ budgeting process
- Raising and reviewing incremental headcount requests
- Sales teams reviewing and accepting Territory & Quota assignments
- Operations teams adding risks and opportunities to baseline forecasts in support of Revenue Growth Management planning by the Supply Chain team
