"The adoption of the tool has been really easy because our users like the layout, they like how it looks, and they like how easy it is to navigate."
Europcar is a car rental company with operations in 130 countries worldwide.
Their complex planning and reporting requirements proved too much for their existing business planning platform, which led them to Pigment.
Prior to the implementation of Pigment, Europcar was managing its financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes across Google Sheets, their ERP, and the incumbent vendor.
But Europcar has complex requirements for an enterprise performance management (EPM) platform. It needs to handle five different financial cycles: actual, 5-year plan, budget, quarterly forecast, and monthly forecast.
This complexity meant the incumbent platform was struggling with sparsity issues:
Beyond the technical constraints, Europcar faced major challenges in financial consolidation and data consistency. Running planning, forecasting, and reporting processes across 130 countries, 15 subsidiaries, and multiple partners created delays, data reconciliation errors, and a huge amount of manual work each month.
Ultimately, it became clear that a more modern, scalable, and collaborative EPM platform was required, one that could support the FP&A team’s complex financial cycles, automate repetitive tasks, and provide reliable insights in real time.
After a 10-weeks implementation (compared to the nine months required to implement the previous solution), Europcar was up and running with Pigment.
Pigment’s co-build approach to implementation, which saw Pigment Solution Architect working directly with Europcar model builders to ensure a successful deployment and autonomy for the FP&A team afterwards.
The modern UI and experience of a platform like Pigment has meant high user adoption and satisfaction:
The results were plain to see, right from the start.
Manual processes like users inputting data into Excel sheets were shifted into the Pigment platform, which decreased issues with data formatting and dramatically cut the time taken to clean data.
And since they’re now able to work with 24 months of data at a time - up from just one - processing time has been dramatically reduced.
These time savings mean the FP&A team is free to focus on more strategic, rewarding, and important work.
Europcar has identified further use cases it’d like to extend Pigment to undertake. The 2026 budget cycle is one of them, ensuring faster, more accurate long-term financial planning. Another priority is workforce planning, giving HR and Finance teams better visibility into headcount and staffing needs. By expanding these capabilities, Europcar aims to strengthen collaboration, improve efficiency, and align financial planning with business strategy.
